Morning routines are the best way to jump-start your day. Especially when you start it with excitement and optimism that this day will be a new adventure to reach your goals.
As they say, “Life begins each morning”.
The thing is … successful people give too much importance to their mornings. They try to fill their mornings with positivity. One of them once said, “I love the smell of possibility in the morning”.
It’s important to realize that implementing these habits into your life will not automatically make you successful… but, looking at successful people and trying to implement what they do in our own lives does raise our chances of becoming successful like them.
So here are 8 habits successful people use to jump-start their mornings.
Wake up Early
I know, I know. You’ve heard this a thousand times. But whether you like it or not, most successful people wake up early. In fact, Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple, wakes up at 3:45 every day! He mentions that the early morning hours are free of distractions.
I understand that waking up early does not work for some people, and that’s okay. So if your daily routine does not allow you to be an early bird, don’t feel bad, there are 7 remaining habits you can try.
Don’t Snooze
Snoozing is one of the worst habits we do every morning.
Hitting the snooze button will probably make you feel foggy and more tired. And regularly relying on it to sneak in more Zzz’s will mess with your body’s internal clock, which can actually deprive you of sleep and set you up for some major health problems.
You may say, “But I still feel tired and I need more sleep”.
Well, waking up after you hit the snooze button will make you more tired than waking up the first time. Because when you go back to sleep, your body will go into a new cycle of sleep. Which will make you even more sleepy during the day.
The best way to wake up without snoozing is to sleep early and stop watching YouTube at 1 am.
Have Something Exciting To Wake up For Every Day
It’s hard to think that many people wake up depressed every day. They have a lot of responsibilities on their back. Family, kids, bills, work… They feel like they can’t handle it anymore, but they should keep going.
When you think about it, everyone has similar responsibilities to some degree. We all have families and work. But people deal with these things differently.
Some people enjoy having kids, others don’t. Some people enjoy having a job, others don’t.
But what makes successful people different than most people is that they have something exciting to wake up for every day.
In most cases, it’s business-related. But it can be anything else for you! Maybe you enjoy playing with your kids or preparing them for school. You can be excited in the morning with anything you love, even if it’s not money-related.
So what’s the one thing that makes you excited in the morning? Let me know in the comments below.
Exercise Every Morning
Successful people have different personalities, different interests, and different skills. But if they have one common thing between them that will be exercise.
It’s important to be active during the day, especially if your work requires you to sit on your chair the whole day.
Even if you’re too busy or you have a lot of things going on in your life, you can always find 10 minutes for a walk or doing some exercise at home. Doing this consistently will make you more relaxed during the day, according to science.
Smile and Think Positively
Smile, it’s free therapy. Smiling has nothing to do with being successful. If you don’t smile now, you won’t smile even if you have millions of dollars in your bank account.
So don’t tell me that successful people smile because they’re rich. If you think like that, that’s totally wrong. Happiness is not about money, it’s about you being satisfied with what you have.
For many people, the last thing they want to do in the morning is smiling. Whether you’re depressed because of your boss or anything else, let me tell you that being sad won’t change the situation.
Don’t let anyone take that beautiful smile from you.
So start your day right with a smile. Believe me, it will make a positive impact on your life and the life of those around you.
Plan your day before it starts
Most successful people plan their days the night before. This simple habit will make you more productive during the day and will help you do more in less time.
You won’t have to think about what needs to be done today because it’s already planned the night before. I tried this method and it changed how I work.
Currently, I’m trying to improve my productivity system even more by planning the whole week ahead instead of day by day. I will let you know how this worked for me.
Learn Something New
Always be a life-long learner. Try to learn something new every day. I’m sure you have something you love learning about. Maybe it’s self-improvement, business, productivity, family, and kids, it doesn’t matter as long as you learn something that can change your life in the long run.
You can also learn new skills related to your job, this habit alone changed my life. If you have more skills you’re worth more for companies. And as a result, asking for a raise or looking for a new job will be a lot easier for you (I’m saying this from my personal experience).
You can also use a habit tracker to make learning new skills a daily habit.
Chat With The People You Care About
I always hear successful people say “Family first”. Successful people always find time for their family even with all the responsibilities they have.
Your family will always love you, while your boss will love you as long as you make him more money. So who deserves more love? Tell me.
These are the 8 habits successful people use to jump-start their days. So which one will you try this week? Let me know in the comments below.
